Rubberwood is one of the more durable lumbers used in the manufacturing of today's home furnishings. It also has very little shrinkage making it one of the more stable construction materials availabe for furniture manufacturing. Rubberwood is one of the most ecologically friendly lumbers used in today's furniture industry. This is due to the fact that it is mainly sourced from 'spent' rubber trees used for latex tapping. These trees will be approximately 30 years old by the time they are felled to make way for a younger more productive sapling. We recommend you use Danish oil to seal this worksurface.
